Perhaps its most relevant to keep this dicussion in relation to only Western culture. So okay, I mean come on, we started with animal skins way back when.
Then during biblical times, the slaves wore these little cloth things to cover only their genitals. I guess you can say the evolution of fashion was pointing toward more clothing because we entered this era of robes in Rome.
And it makes sense. More clothing helps you keep warm. Then in the 1700-1800 was the era of the powdered wig. What was that about? So up until that era, the arrow was toward more clothing.
Now since maybe like the 1920s, and with women's sufferage and all that, we shifted toward less clothing. And now when you go to the mall, you find yourself looking at some very scantily clad underage girls.
Any thoughts? What will fashion look like in the future? Are we destined to the full body grey-suit with a big giant V-neck? As far as gender goes, I think mens fashion will stay the same. We've had the suit, we like the suit.
